Why Corruption?

Corruption refers to any activity that is a short-cut or a loophole to a desired result which otherwise whole have not been possible or taken longer to happen. Not doing the right thing, not abiding by the law of the land, misuse of power and not being morally ethical is also corruption.

Causes of Corruption:
1.       Greed for Power and Resource
People want to have more power, socio-political, to be able to have dominion over the people. So, they go evil. Others want to have more material resources so they take bribe, in many forms, and let people do evil.

2.        Poverty
It is natural human instinct to be selfish. If their basic needs are not fulfilled they don’t care about morality or ethics. They will go to any extent to satisfy their basic needs and ensure their survival.

3.       Helplessness of  good people
It is often seen that the number of corrupt people are more than good people. Thereby, even if the good people don’t do anything corrupt directly but support all the same.

4.       The evil nature of human
People that are engaged in anti-social activities like rape, murder, theft, etc. are corrupt simply because of the lust of flesh and because their mind has elevated to such a level of violence and selfishness that they don’t care for human life or anything around them.
Advantages of corruption:
Following are the advantages of corruption:
1.       Short-cut to success
Because there is corruption people can take narrow way and escape law and be done with it. It does help people in minor cases like traffics or getting a document from public/private concerns, etc.

2.       A better (standard of) living
Corrupt people usually have more power and resources which automatically ensures a better and luxurious life.

3.       Availing goods and services
Many goods and services that are not to be made available to the people by the law of the land are made available by the smugglers or the corrupt businessmen.

4.       Enjoying the  evil nature
Sexual immoralities, gender bias, feeling of superiority over others are some evil nature of the human which are enjoyed due to presence of corruption.

Disadvantages of corruption:
Following are the disadvantages of corruption:
1.       People are deprived of justice
People with power and resources always get their way through everything and poor and powerless are the ones harassed and rules levied upon.

2.       Presence of anti-social activities
All anti-social and humane activities are the results of poor/no moral and ethics that should govern human life.

3.       Humanity lost

When a human stops valuing another life the person ceases to be a human. Corruption in all forms have turned people into even lesser than animals.

NOW

NOW

Sing no song
When i am gone
Shed no tear
When i'm not here
Bring no flower
When i take no air
Say no word
When i have no thought

Love me; should u,
love me now
while i have the time
to love u more
Let us sing now
songs of joy,
words of hope and
kindness shown

Do this now
while time goes slow
Do this now
for tomorrow we don't know

Religion

Do animals have any religion? I don't know! According to Darwin, Law of Evolution, only the smartest and the strongest survive in the nature. If that is what it should be, remember that there is always someone stronger and smarter.
We humans have something as religion. This belief forms our way of life and guides us in our day to day life. No religion teaches to do evil to our fellow human and other forms of life. All religion preaches peace and communal harmony, to love one another and care for others. Why is there violence then? Discrimination, poverty and social evils? What is so different between us and animals if some feast and some starve, if some live and some are killed? We see these in animal world, the strongest gets more portion of food, luxury and rules over the weak. Surprisingly, we see same things in our society; the strong rules over the weak. The strong gets stronger and weak gets weaker.
If we call ourselves the most intelligent living organisms on Earth but behave like the animals, whom are we fooling? I find no trace of religion but evolution.
Humanism should be our religion and humanity should be our law. For there can be nothing greater than life.

Lets start the change.

The Pen

My economics professor Mr. A. S. Varaikan shared with us a very powerful thought today, so i thought of sharing. He said....
Imagine you are given a pen and told to write till the ink runs out but you don't know how much ink the pen has! The question is what would you write? Would you write craps or the most wonderful things that comes in your mind? I don't think anyone would waste the ink on writing craps but the most brilliant ideas. Take the ink for life and yourself as the pen. We don't know how long we shall live. Death is for all the living ones and we are the living ones . What are we doing with our lives, what legacy will follow us when we are gone? Are we doing anything for the betterment of mankind or are we being destructive instruments to the society and the world at large? Answer to yourself. If we are being destructive, well, its high time we change while there is time.
At the end he said....
All of you will graduate few years down the line and take up responsibilities in the society. I wish to see all of you doing something important and good for the betterment of the world around you .
Its not about holding high or important positions in the society because often the high personals are found doing the acts of lowest degree. Its about doing something(s) good, it maybe something small, for the world around us.

I dedicate this article to Mr. Varaikan, a true scholar, and all my other classmates.

Human wants are limited

Economics teaches us that human wants are unlimited with limited resources . Well, i don't think so. Human wants are limited to the availability of a resource. To a certain extent you may say , well what about the imaginations that a person can have? Well, its only imaginations, nothing real.
Lets try to understand this with an illustration. Assume there are only three brands of cars in the economy (world) namely, Brand A, B and C, A being average quality , B being good and C being the best. Now a person who owns a car of Brand A would want a car of  brand B. Once he gets the car of brand B he would want for the car of C brand. Now what happens when he has the car of brand C? He is fully satisfied and would not want for any more car as there is nothing beyond car C.
Well, this doesn't mean there can't be anything beyond car C. There won't be a car D unless someone burns some resources and makes car D. In doing so i believe he'll cause much pollution.
I want to share two important issues:
1. Humans are always kid. Its just like how a child wants everything that he/she sees in a fair. And the sellers will come to them only, to attract them and make money. Sometimes we want certain things which will never be beneficial for us. And in order to get that extra we engage in undesirable activities, anti-social works.
2. The world is going too fast, we need to slow down. In order to produce these varieties of consumer goods, so much pollution is taking place. Imagine everyone having iPhone 6s and that's it. Equality will minimise corruption and also save the pollution that would have taken place if 7s were manufactured.

"We don't want that which does not exist but only that which is available "

War

War has never been appreciated by common civilians of any war engaged countries. They all curse war. We all know the results of war. War can never be useful for mankind.
The soldiers are the most innocent victims of war. At the order of the authority they just engage in war with other party, against whom they possibly have no issue. Another thing that startles me is when countries or communities engage in war due to conflicts in the past, something like 'national heritage'. For example, India and Pakistan. Those soldiers at the border just fight and hate each other just because that's been the tradition. They don't even know each other , have never caused any possible harm to each other. It doesn't make sense. The initial conflicts took place even before they were born but see who is fighting! There are many other examples like, Israel and Palestine, Korea, Japan and China, etc.
Now the logical understanding . Who actually wants the war then? Most of the countries are democratic nations, that means the leaders of the nation are elected by the people (Now note, the leaders are also common people but after becoming a political leader , well, things change). War imposes threat to everyone. Why would the political leaders what war then? So logically they too should not want war but be at peace with other nations. Who else is in the country then?
The philosophical aspect of truth is always liberal. It all depends on what is accepted and believed by man as Pythagoras said,'man is the measure of all things'. War breaks out when the mismatch in ideology is so much that the survival of the opposition becomes a potential threat to the survival of the other and therefore the only way out is by gaining supremacy over the other by means of arms; complete extinction of the opponent.
Another funny thing is about war is that, a war is justified by its result. Do you think anyone would have had the guts to criticise Hitler or Nazis had they won the war? Think. Same for Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden, and others. We take the motto of the victor of the war and blame the defeated. However, there are some wars fought for independence from a foreign suppressor or ruler. I guess those are justified as right irrespective of the result. These are self-defence, it must be done.
The bottom line is, wars are not productive. The whole world suffers for the dispute of a few. The only way to not let such things occur is by inculcating universal brotherhood, love, compassion, forgiveness and value based education in practice.

The Origin

As back as human history can go there has always been the questions about how humans came into existence! Well, it doesn't matter how humans that we see today, which we ourselves are, came into existence. There are many theories on this and it completely depends on every individual as to what they wish to believe ; provided the person is a normal rational being. We become what we believe. As Pythagoras said, 'man is the measure of all things'. But just because we don't know the exact event doesn't mean that there was no exact or particular event, its only that we don't know that yet. And our beliefs can never change that exact event that got this whole thing, the life, running. The fact remains a fact.
Provided all the natural phenomena that we encounter, its kinda difficult to believe any one theory for certain. The universe is an universe of possibilities, anything can happen; i mean there are quite a few options. Its only a question of how the natural laws interact with each other.
We will never know these aspects. And these should not matter to us. Imagine of an unlawful child. Its a waste of time for the person trying to find out who are the reasons for his/her existence but rather should enjoy life and make the most of it for own self and others. For what is so wrong if we have evolved from lower forms of life, from apes to man? We should be proud of our ancestors and ourselves, we are expandable creatures, that's great. At the same time, what glory is there if we are created by some God and are drenched in sin now? The point here is we are no more at the origin or original state, all together along the way we have become something else, that's the law of universe, everything changes and change is the only constant process. The child can choose to blame the parents for the situation and do nothing in life because complainers usually don't solve anything or can choose to get over the past and strive for a future written by him/her. Remember, there is Honor in what we become than what we were.
So forget worrying about the origin and focus on how you finish your story on earth. Will it be a legend or the end?
